Instagram feedback

I recently uploaded this image to my personal Instagram feed. I am followed by friends, family, other MA students, and other photographers.

I called it Family Journey.

I uploaded it because I thought it was an interesting image that could provoke a number of responses in people. It is not as abstract as I am currently aiming for in my project for this module, but it is interesting. The ghostly and impressionistic quality of the people means that viewers can be both intrigued by the people and can also project themselves onto them.

It got a number of positive comments, and someone was interested in how I made the image. My personal Instagram feed does not usually get many comments, so this image is rather special in that regard.

It has made me consider the benefits of being able to decipher what something is, so that rather than abstract it becomes more impressionistic. It means viewers are able to grasp onto ideas and meanings faster and have a quicker reaction to images, something that our recent work on Instagram has suggested successful photography benefits from.

I will continue to work both on abstract movement and impressionistic.
