Shape of light
I attended this exhibition at Tate Modern with a fellow Falmouth student, Andrew. I have never personally made abstract images, or been particularly knowledgable about abstract photographers, so this was a great way to get an overview of this area of photography. Continue reading “Shape of light”
Where am I going?
Week 2’s main activity asked us to make a short trailer for our practise or project. Continue reading “Where am I going?”
Rephotography and repeat photography
Week 1 of our new module Surfaces & Strategies asked us to consider rephotography, its forms and uses. We looked at rephotography and repeat photography as separate but connected areas of work. Continue reading “Rephotography and repeat photography”
Photo London
I had a fascinating day at Photo London with Sarah, Andrew, Libby and some other members of our course. Aside from ideas surrounding subject, form, strategies etc., I took away a number of key points regarding exhibiting work. Continue reading “Photo London”
Responding to Ed Ruscha

Presenting the work
Week 10 has encouraged us to consider the role of galleries, what ‘art’ is, the value given to art, and how our work fits into the modern world of art. Continue reading “Presenting the work”
Making the aesthetic work digitally
After making the images for my current project, I have been developing the film myself before making prints of the images. Continue reading “Making the aesthetic work digitally”
Investigating memory and place

“Photographs and stories are performances in which the physicality or materiality of a memoried place is strengthened and brought into focus as a distinct and shared place; that is, the same place for everyone. Simultaneously, it exists on the individual level as a different place for everyone, and multiple places too.” (Roberts, p.99)
Who saw it?
The more participants join in with this project, the more I am realising that I am really acting as a conduit for their memories and emotions. I initially thought this project would be a lot more about my own interpretation of these structures. Continue reading “Who saw it?”
